We wish the final installment of the Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn Part 2, would just hurry up already. Actually, we take that back, because then it will be over and we will have to deal with Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart doing serious roles rather than being all sexy and vampiric. Lame. (We know they are good at the serious stuff, but we're allowed at least fifty Twilight-is-ending tantrums and this is the first).
In these dark between-Twilight days, we can at least start to get a bit excited about the movie adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's The Host. If you haven't read the book, the story follows Melanie Stryder (played by Saoirse Ronan) as she fights back against alien forces who have taken over Earth and now her body.
Wanda, the baddy alien trying to control Melanie, soon forms a bond with her host and decides maybe humans aren't that bad after all. Which unsurprisingly clashes a bit with her race's ultimate mission to take over the planet [insert evil laugh].
Admittedly, there is not even a hint of a glimpse of any vampires, which means no sparkly R-Patz torso, BUT there is a whole host (ho ho ho) of new sci-fi sexiness to feast your eyes on. We're mainly drooling over Melanie's love-interest Jared, played by Max Irons (yes, THE Jeremy Irons' son), who you might recognize from Red Riding Hood and Dorian Gray. Yum.
The bad news is that The Host isn't scheduled for release until late March next year. Boo! Still, it's pretty impossible not to get excited when this teaser trailer has the most dramatic music. Of. All. Time. (Duh duh duuuuuuh!)
