Pilita Corales Aims to Discover the Country's Best Singer in ‘The X Factor Philippines’
Asia’s Queen of Songs, Pilita Corrales, completes the list of judge-mentors in the highly anticipated and biggest singing-reality competition “The X Factor Philippines,” joining Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, and Charice, to search and train for the next singing superstar to hit the Philippine music scene.
With over 135 albums to her credit and an international profile with many appearances across the world, Pilita definitely has the keenest and most-experiences eye to spot the ‘x-factor’ among hopefuls who will audition in front of her in the coming weeks. The songwriter, actress, and TV/radio host also performed alongside internationally acclaimed artists like Sammy Davis Jr., The Beatles, 1966, Bob Hope, Pat Boone, Frank Sinatra and Julie Andrews. She also holds the distinction of being the first Filipino to win in an international music festival by bagging the Best Performer Award during the 1st Tokyo Music Festival.
Pilita traces her roots as a Kapamilya in her multi-awarded show “An Evening with Pilita,” which aired on ABS-CBN from 1965-1972 and is considered one of the benchmarks in Philippine broadcasting history.
Will contestants have a hard time pleasing one of the country’s finest and most celebrated singers? “The X Factor” is a world-renowned musical franchise by Simon Cowell that started in the UK. ABS-CBN bagged the exclusive rights to localize the program with KC Concepcion as host. The show will also give away the biggest prize for a talent search in the history of Philippine TV.
