heat at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival: Hanging with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian in Cannes

heat was very excited last night to be one of 250 people attending the world preniere of Kanye West's debut film, Cruel Summer, unveiled in a specially built pyramid at the Cannes Film Festival.

Security was mega-tight - you had to have your numbered wristband match the digits on your hard ticket, and bring photo ID - and dress code was formal. But it was well worth the long walk to the car park of the Palm Beach club, where the pyramid has been built. Bonus treat: Kanye and a blingy-attired Kim Kardashian sat right behind us on the carpeted bleachers-style seating. The 30-minute film, celebrating Kanye's new collaborative project G.O.O.D. Music, was projected on seven screens for a wholly immersive experience: five in front of you, wraparound-style, one above and one below.

G.O.O.D. Music artist Kid Cudi stars as a car thief who falls for a blind Arabian princess, and more than that we can't really say as the story is somewhat subservient to the intense visuals, all filmed in Qatar. The pyramid will travel the world for public screenings following its Cannes debut. Kanye explained that he was inspired by today's way of living where we are always looking at multiple screens, and wanted to create cinema that was more like real life. "I want to work on cities, music parks. I want to change what entertainment experiences are like."

Hey, when KanyeWorld opens, we are so there!
