In the world of radio, Tim Westwood seems to be the most 'marmite' of DJs. Say what you want about the self-professed 'rude boy', but the cheeky chap has been on the air trying to represent hip hop in the UK more times than you and i have had roast dinners (for over two decades, in fact).
So, we were rather shocked to hear that the radio veteran was dropped from his 1Xtra drivetime slot on Saturday afternoons. Not as shocked as Nicki Minaj, it seems. The singer/rapper took to Twitter as soon as she heard the news to express her shock, tweeting,
'Ur kidding right? Wtf?", before sending him the message: "dm ur nmbr. U need to come to the States! Ur a f**king gold mine. No one in their right mind fired u.'
It seemed as though the starlet couldn't quiet get over the news, as she also later tweeted,
'Noooooooooooooo Tim Westwood is such a big part of my UK experience!!!!! He's a f**king superstar!!!! Best interviews hands down!!!! Wtf?!?!'
Tim had previously tweeted on the subject, informing his fans,
'I've been sacked from 1Xtra Mon-Fri 4-7pm from sept #Westwoodyourfired. I don't like gettin fired #Westwoodyourefired - 1Xtra.'
Well stop right there Nicki Minaj, you don't have to fret any longer as your favourite DJ will still have his Saturday night slot as well as an evening programme on Sundays.
