Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Philippines Changes the Life of a Street Sweeper in Pampanga

For the first time in the Philippines and Asia, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Philippines is set to make its much-awaited premiere this Sunday, April 15. Based on the original Endemol international franchise, the Philippine edition follows the hit US version’s goal of changing lives one home at a time.

With the promise of “Bagong bahay, Bagong buhay,” the show gives new homes and brings new hope to deserving Filipino families and communities whose life stories are bound to touch viewers’ hearts.

For its pilot episode, host Paolo Bediones with the Design Team’s Tessa Prieto-Valdez, Divine Lee, Tristan Jovellana, Marilen Faustino-Montenegro, and Joby Belmonte visited Apung Norma and the Austria family in their home in Mabalacat, Pampanga to give them the biggest surprise of their lives.

The Austria family is known for their mother "Apung Norma" who seeks help for the poor and sick children by coordinating with an NGO welfare services for help. She still works as a street sweeper even at her 60s to augment her family’s income. She lost her husband and three children due to illness, which led her to dedicate her life in helping sick and poor kids.

The introduction to the family and some snippets of the progress of the home makeover were already presented in Extreme Makeover’s The Road to Makeover, a daily 10-minute mini-program shown right after Face to Face.

This Sunday, April 15, you can catch the full episode, see the Austria family’s brand new home, and find out how their lives will be changed forever.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Philippines airs every Sunday at 8:30PM. You can also catch The Road to Makeover daily at 11:30AM also on TV5.
