KFC Poisoned Customer, Pays $8.3 Million to Victim Monika Samaanm
Fast-food chain KFC was ordered by the Supreme Court of the state of New South Wales on Friday to pay $8 million Australian dollars ($8.3 Million) the family of an Australian girl who was a victim of salmonella food poisoning.
Identified as Monika Samaanm the girl was left in a coma for six-months with severe brain damage after eating chicken twister wrap at one of KFC's franchise stores located in Sydney, Australia.
In a statement following the verdict KFC said it was “deeply disappointed” in the outcome and is already planning an appeal.
“We also have a responsibility to defend KFC’s reputation as a provider of safe, high-quality food.”
