CBN Asia’s Tanikala Tops Holy Week Ratings Again


Christian Broadcasting Network Asia’s (CBN Asia) yearly Lenten special Tanikala has topped afternoon ratings once more.

This year, Tanikala: Ang Ikaapat Na Yugto captured the highest audience share among other TV specials in its timeslot last Holy Week.

According to overnight data results from AGB Nielsen, all three episodes of Tanikala which aired on GMA gathered the highest audience share among nationwide viewers in the 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. slot.

The Maundy Thursday episode “Unos,” featuring actress Amy Austria-Ventura as a mother engaged in witchcraft, was watched by over 4.8 million viewers.

Meanwhile, the Good Friday episode “Gapos,” introducing rising indie actor Junjun Quintana as a notorious gang leader, got an audience share of more than 5.7 million.

The Black Saturday episode “Wasak,” with actor-host Icko Gonzalez portraying a gospel singer succumbing to addictions, the true-to-life story garnered close to 4 million viewers.

All stories featured in Tanikala: Ang Ikaapat Na Yugto were based on real accounts of people who have experienced life-changing transformation and freedom from the bondage of sin and darkness.

Indeed, millions of Filipinos nationwide found great encouragement while watching the fourth installment of Tanikala.

Tony Amora Robles said on Facebook, “I cried after watching Tanikala. It really is a life changing program!

Also on Facebook, Mars Mendoza expressed her joy: “Superb! These shows not only have good quality, they also have valuable lessons that can surely save lives.”

Viewers also sent their feedback via SMS, like Roseann from Bicol who said, “The stories featured in Tanikala were really great and heartwarming. I found myself in tears as I realized how good God has been to me despite the wrongs I’ve done. More power to CBN Asia!
