Will.i.am: The Voice doesn't make great TV

Will.i.am: The Voice doesn't make great TV

The Voice judge will.i.am has shocked fans of the talent show by confessing that it "doesn't make great TV", but he's still standing behind he BBC effort as a platform for discovering soon to be successful artists.

Will has stated that he sees rival show the X Factor as being potentially destructive to its artists, whereas on his show the judge gets the chance to bond with the team they coach and therefore offer advice and constructive criticism. Will says,

"With this format because you made a bond with the people on your team, it's like you're coaching them. A coach doesn't beat the athlete up, the coach tries to instil some type of faith and courage."

The Voice has seen a drop in ratings since it's debut episode and has been constantly compared to The X Factor. However, having a show format like that of the X Factor is one thing the coaches on The Voice want to avoid, as Will says he doesn't want to see their contestants have "their souls crushed" on TV. Will continued,

"When singers go on the other shows, you're probably never going to hear from those people again. Why? Because their souls and their whole world has been crushed and they've been embarassed in front of everybody. This one's different. I want to see every single person that walked off that stage proud and not battered and bruised, because this is their passion...That's why I like this show and this format. Maybe it doesn't make great TV, but it's gonna make great artists. Do you want TV or do you want artists that are gonna go and perform for people and make people forget about their problems for five minutes in a song? TV's great, but there's lots of it."

Fellow The Voice coach Danny O'Donoghue *swooon* agreed with Will's opinoin, adding,

"If you had a talent show for 5-year-olds, and all [of them] were going 'off off off' to another 6 or 7-year-old, you'd probably give them all detention, give them a good speaking to. With us, it's not a pantomime. You can't create a circus or a show around what we do. That's not our thing, we go in and we speak from the heart."

The final episode of The Voice UK is on BBC One tonight at 7.20pm. What do you Heatworld citizens think of Will and Danny's rant, and will you be tuning in to the final?

The Voice 2012 Final who do YOU think should win?

Weeks of blind auditions, battle rounds and live shows will culminate in the live final of The Voice this weekend.

The coaches' teams will do battle for one last time this Saturday night, and one singer will be crowned the winner of The Voice 12. Team will.i.am has Tyler James, Bo Bruce will be doing battle for Team Danny, while Team Tom has Leanne Mitchell, and Team Jessie J is represented by Vince Kidd.

The big question is who do YOU think will win? With the ratings for the show sadly trailing off each week (we say sadly because all the singers have been genuinely brilliant), does anyone even care any more?

It's going to be worth tuning in for the reported coaches' medley, as Tom, Jessie, Danny and Will are rumoured to be singing a mash up of their own hits, including It's Not Unusual, Where Is The Love, Price tag and Falling To Pieces. The coaches' live performances have either been toe-curlingly awful, or ear-pleasingly excellent… and we're hoping the series ends on a high.

Brand new teaser for The Bourne Legacy

It's time for another slice of Bourne pie.

The Bourne Legacy is the fourth instalment in the Bourne saga, and judging by the trailer, it promises to be just as jam-packed with action-adventure as the other three films.

The latest film features Jeremy Renner in the lead role of CIA operative Aaron Cross, as opposed to Matt Damon who's played the lead - Jason Bourne - in the previous films.

But don't worry Matt Damon fans - he's said he 'expects to return' to the Bourne franchise at some point in the future.

The Bourne Legacy is due for release in UK cinemas 13 August.

Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan to perform together again!

Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan to perform together again!

When we heard the following news, we felt like we'd been hit in the head with a pillow full of sweet nostalgia, which is why we're very happy to bring you the news that Kylie Minogue has revealed her plans to duet with Jason Donovan next month, squeal!

Okay, we know it's very corny, but even us lot in the Heat office were almost moved to tears during the pair's on-off love affair on Neighbours (back when Neighbours was good). So, we're very happy to hear that they'll be collaborating for a special duet in Hyde Park on July 11.

They'll even be performing their hit track Especially For You, although Kylie admits she doubts they'll be the ones doing the singing, she confessed,

'I'm going to sing 'Especially for You' with Jason Donovan...I don't think we'll even need to sing it. I'm sure the audience all went through the Neighbours wedding. It's going  to bring the house down! Even though it's outdoors.''

Kylie recently released her latest single TimeBomb to celebrate her whopping 25 years in the music industry, she's technically a music veteran, just don't tell her we said that. The star revealed how nervous she was to start her 'Anti-Tour' shows this year where she performed some B-Sides and album tracks in intimate venues.

''It was torturous inside me. I just thought, 'I can't be that person, she's not accepted, she's so uncool', and it transpires I was none of those things...The coolest people were just, 'No, we love those songs, we love you from that time', but I had to go through my own process to where I could embrace it. The 'Anti-Tour'. I could bore you still with what that tour meant to me!''

We've included that classic tune below so you can sway your heads in time, or try not to throw up your dinner.

Hear Misha B's debut single Home Run!

Hear Misha B's debut single Home Run!

Most of you will remember Misha B, former X Factor contestant, as the diva singer with the voice strong and soulful enough to blow down a small building. Well, Misha has unveiled her debut single 'Home Run' online, and it appears as though the general public love Misha's first effort.

Despite not winning the talent show, Misha was not deterred and wants to follow in the foot-steps of other former X Factor contestants, like JLS and One Direction, who have gone on to have huge success in the charts.

Misha did well in the hit TV show making it through to the semi-final stage before being voted off. Since then Cheryl Cole has expressed her want to duet with the singer, and she was even said to be taking a role in a stage production of The Bodyguard. We weren't surprised to see a debut single from the head strong star who, after appearing on the show, informed the public on numerous occasions that she would be releasing an album, saying,

"I'm just going to continue to go on, keep performing, making music and hopefully be a success."

A clip of Home Run previously featured on Misha's Why Hello World mixtape online, but now the full version of the track is available to stream via Soundcloud from today, so why not have a listen and let us know what you think?

Hollyoaks catch-up: Lynsey saves Mercedes, Doug and Riley make up

Hollyoaks catch-up: Lynsey saves Mercedes, Doug and Riley make up

Even after breaking down in front of Lynsey, Mercedes insists she's okay. Lynsey tells her that it's reasonable to be freaked out about Silas, and that she still has counselling about it and suggests that maybe Mercedes should get some help. Mercy seems to be ready to make changes, but then bumps into Riley. He tells her that she's not allowed to see him or Bobby anymore – he doesn't want a prostitute anywhere near his son.

Lynsey has a go at Dr Browning for using Mercedes, but then Mercedes has a go at Lynsey for telling Riley that she's been selling herself. Lynsey follows Mercedes to the club - she's decided the best way to deal with everything is to carry on sleeping with men for money - and eventually brings her round by leaving a note for her to say that she's better than this. Mercedes goes to Lynsey's and tells her she's so happy to have a friend she can trust. And Lynsey feels awful, because she's secretly going out with Mercedes' ex, Riley!

Over at the university halls, the flatmates are beginning to warm to the Savages – but Will starts to get put off the idea of their stay when Dodger and Ash start flirting. He wants people to know he's moved on from them and he's changed since uni, but they're not helping.

Doug's STILL moping around but eventually Leanne convinces him to go out. Texas gets Dennis to spend some time with Riley and annoy him. The more Dennis irritates him, the more Riley realises that Doug's the only best friend for him. Really sweetly, Texas has set up a gallery of Doug and Riley's friendship, and once the two guys are tricked into seeing it together, Doug comes out properly to Riley and he accepts it. They hug and are best friends again!

Ste knows nothing about it, though, and is still grumpy in the deli – Brendan's being creepy again, too. He tells him that he'll be watching over Ste and the deli…
