Tony Dezuniga, Pinoy Illustrator of DC and Marvel Comics, is Dead
Tony DeZuniga, the first Filipino artist whose work was accepted by an American Publishers Marvel and DC Comics is now dead. He was 71 years old.
DeZuniga or "Mang Tony" to his friends and followers is the co-creator of famous fiction characters "Jonah Hex," a disfigured Western anti-hero and "Black Orchid," a bullet-proof superheroine. He was also responsible in drawing prominent Marvel characters like "X-Men" and "Spider-Man."
a Los Angeles based illustrator also became an instrument to help Filipino artists like Alfredo Alcala, Alex NiƱo, Nestor Redondo, and Gerry Talaoc penetrate the international comics scene in the 70s.
